The Best Early August Ski Gear Deals

The “dead” of summer has brought some rather insane clearance deals for savvy winter sports shoppers.

It’s an unfortunate reality that skiing and snowboarding have a high cost of entry—besides lift tickets and passes, those looking to hit the slopes will need to buy or rent gear and winter clothing as well. But with the demand for snow sports products at its peak during the winter season, manufacturers tend to accumulate excess inventory, prompting them to offer significant discounts on their remaining stock. It may be the middle of the summer, but thanks to off-season clearance campaigns, the ski world has produced some incredible early August bargains.

This week, we have a standout all-mountain powder ski, a bargain board/tune package, and a couple of really solid jacket and snow pants deals.

Columbia

Timberturner II Ski Jacket

70% Off

Need a new ski jacket for cold weather? Columbia is offering an absolutely insane deal on its Timberturner II Ski Jacket as part of its Summer Sale. The jacket typically retails for $260, but with code AUGDEALS, it’s now just $80 through August 9th.

We’re fans of the Timberturner jacket thanks to its lightweight build and warmth for its weight. Slope-hitters will probably want to add extra layers if it gets below 20°F (-7°C), and not everyone will love the bold color schemes, but for $80, this jacket is an absolute no-brainer.

Evo

Icelantic Saba Pro 107 Skis 2023

50% Off

Evo has been on a roll lately, offering killer deals on a wide variety of last season’s equipment. As the off-season rolls on, the deals have only gotten better.

This week, we wanted to highlight an especially solid deal for the powder hounds out there. Evo is offering this season’s Icelantic Saba Pro skis for a whopping 50% off. These skis offer a rare combination of excellent powder performance and decent groomer proficiency, making them a great daily driver for those primarily skiing in the Rockies or West Coast.

This type of “all-mountain” powder ski usually commands a pretty penny for their capability, seldom dipping below $700 during the winter. As a result, the current $425 sale rate may be the deal of a lifetime for the right shredder.

REI

Season Aero Snowboard 2022

50% Off Plus Maintenance Package

When was the last time you got a new ski or snowboard helmet? If the answer is more than five years ago, it’s time to look into a replacement!

Thankfully, REI is offering significant discounts on some of the most well-regarded helmets in the industry this weekend, with both the Maze (men’s version) and Allure (women’s version) going for 40% off the typical sale price. Some of our team members own versions of these helmets, and we can confirm they are comfortable and reasonably light.

Patagonia

Storm Shift Snow Pants

50% Off

Patagonia has a ton of excellent winter clothing deals as part of its 2023 Summer Sale. But if you’re in the market for a new pair of snow pants, you’ll especially be in luck this week.

A good pair of snow pants is crucial to stay comfortable on the slopes, and the cheapest pairs won’t be as waterproof or insulated as one might need to stay sufficiently dry in the harshest conditions. At $189, Patagonia’s Storm Shift pants may still seem pricey, but their long-lasting quality and Gore-Tex waterproofing material make them well worth the investment.

And while some of Patagonia’s sale items face limited availability, the Storm Shift pants are—at least as of Aug. 7—still available in most sizes and colors for both men and women.

If the Storm Shift pants aren’t a fit, Patagonia is also offering 50% off on its Powder Town and Stormstride pants in select sizes.

Women’s: Available in all sizes in select colors.
Men’s: Available in all sizes except Medium in select colors.
