Ratings Adjustment: Revelstoke Snow Score

Here at PeakRankings, we aim to provide the most helpful and transparent content we can. That being said, we’re always iterating on our PeakRankings Mountain Score methodology and decided to change the Snow score for a major Western Canada ski resort today.

Previously, we had given Revelstoke a respectable score of 8 for snow, which was lower than some of its competitors in the Canadian Rockies. Our reasoning was that, due to its massive vertical drop, snow conditions could vary immensely from the top to the bottom of the mountain, and the lower mountain often saw heavier snow.

However, upon reanalysis, we have decided to upgrade Revelstoke’s snow score to 9, putting it right in line with other nearby resorts such as Kicking Horse, Lake Louise, and Banff Sunshine Village. While these mountains may have less variable snow across their footprints, Revelstoke sees much greater quantities of accumulation and high-quality snow in its more trafficked upper mountain areas. Also, we already capture the variable lower mountain conditions in our resiliency score.

This change moves Revelstoke from 16th to 12th in our overall rankings and from 15th to 11th in our Rockies rankings. Our Western Canada rankings remain unchanged with Revelstoke in 4th place.
