According to a statement put out by the resort, Squaw Valley is getting a name change. The resort says they have put a lot of thought into the derogatory nature of the name “Squaw”, and have decided to remove the word from their name.

Late Friday evening, Vail-owned Mountain News Corporation announced that it would be shutting down OnTheSnow and other affiliated websites effective July 13, 2020. In a statement, the media outlet said it was no longer financially viable to continue operating the sites.
